You’ll never be short of something to do on the Costa Blanca. The Costa Blanca really does offer a more relaxed way of life, for both young and old, locals and foreigners. Come rain or shine there’s always plenty to entertain the whole family.
Expecting visitors and don’t know where to take them? Or wondering how on earth you’re going to keep the kids busy during those long school holidays? From horse riding, to mountain walks, and from water parks to a relaxing day on the beach – there’s something to suit everyone.
The beautiful weather and fantastic scenery in this region are two definite plus points. It can be raining one minute and hot and sunny the next. Or you can be in a cloudy valley searching for a jumper and a mile down the road on the coast you could be donning your swimming gear!
Some of the scenery in this area is absolutely breathtaking. Take a trek up one of the many mountains (you don’t have to be a seasoned walker as many walks are relatively easy) and you’ll encounter some of the most wonderful views. From some points you can see as far as the Canaries on a clear day.
And of course, if you prefer a more leisurely pace of life then a long lunch in one of the local restaurants, followed by a gentle stroll along the promenade and a lounge of the beach can be arranged!
And let’s not forget the more lively side of life on the Costa Blanca. If dancing till dawn is your thing you’ll find a vast array of nightspots in Benidorm as well as the odd one or two in some of the smaller towns.

While you’re in Spain, whether on holiday or living here, it would be a shame to miss out on finding out about the history and local culture of the region you’re in. One great way to experience the real Spanish way of life is to go to a fiesta. People eat, drink, dance and generally have one big party in the streets and bars, usually culminating in a spectacular firework display. Every town has a fiesta, usually during the summer months and then at other various times of the year.
We talk about gardening because we know it’s a favourite hobby of many Brits, and gardening here is a little bit different. Some of the plants you’re used to will grow in abundance for a much longer season, whilst others native to this area just won’t survive. It’s all about trial and error, and if you’re a devoted gardener you’ll manage to cultivate a tropical paradise. Just don’t underestimate how much hard physical work it can be, but do as the locals; don’t be foolish enough to garden in the midday sun and you’ll reap the benefits.
What leisure guide would be complete without a guide to local beaches? We mention some of the more popular ones and the facilities they have. We’d love to hear from you if you’ve found any secret beaches in the area – and don’t worry, there’s room for us all!
We also give you plenty of suggestions on things to do in the local region, whether you’re looking for a day out with friends, a relaxing trip with the family or fancy some sporting activity. This area is absolutely packed with things to do and anyone that lives or visits here is incredibly lucky as we have the best of both worlds: white sandy beaches and the breathtaking scenery of the mountains and valleys.
