There are all manner of restaurants in this region, from cheap and cheerful mountain hideaways to high class establishments. There are restaurants with swimming pools, happy hours, entertainment and toys and games for children.
Just take a look at our restaurant section to see what’s on offer. Keep an eye on this page as we’re constantly adding to it and it shows all the latest special offers.
In addition to traditional Spanish cuisine there are restaurants in this area that offer British and German food too.
If you plan to eat out on a Sunday lunchtime it’s advisable to book the busier restaurants as this is when Spanish families like to eat out together. You’ll often find several generations of the same family almost taking over a whole restaurant.
Children are welcomed in nearly all restaurants in Spain and will be spoilt with lolly pops, people chatting to them and the waiters entertaining them. Don’t be put off if you don’t see a children’s menu (menu para niños), which are usually only printed on the menu in coastal resorts. Most restaurants will happy adapt adult food to suit children.
It’s unusual to find a restaurant that will cook early (at about 6pm) as the chef doesn’t usually arrive until 7pm. So if you do have children and they’re in an English routine of tea at 5pm and bed by 7pm you may have to adapt their routine.
If you can’t live without fast food occasionally MacDonald’s, Burger King, Subway and Kentucky Fried Chicken can be found in the larger towns. There are a number of fish and chip shops in the area and the fish can be delicious as it’s usually freshly caught, rather than coming out of the freezer.
The Spanish are a nation of meat-eaters and consequently there is limited choice for vegetarians on restaurant menus. But you can always ask the waiter to adapt a meal, which most will be happy to do.
Service isn’t included in restaurant prices and it’s usual to tip if you’ve had good service.
