You may want to rent a car if you only live in Spain for a few months of the year or you haven’t yet found a car to buy.

To rent a car in Spain you must be 21(although some companies quote a minimum age of 25) and have had a driving licence for at least a year.

Shop around and negotiate on price, especially if hiring out of season or long-term.  Check if the price you are quoted includes:

• Unlimited mileage
• Insurance (3rd party is required by law, but some companies offer full cover)
• Tax
• Child car seats if required
• Breakdown assistance
• Roof rack
• CD player

Cars are usually rented with a credit card.

Don’t just go to the big named companies; look in the Buy Sell Local web site’. It could save you hundreds of euros.
