La Vila Joiosa or Villajoyosa (in Spanish) is a coastal town in the province of Alicante. La Vila Joiosa literally means Joyful Village, although the inhabitants often abbreviate it to La Vila.

The town stretches out along side a sandy beach, bordered with palm trees and ends at its fishing port. The lower part of the town surprises the visitor with its beautiful facades painted in vibrant colours.

The image of Villajoyosa as a fishing village with multicolour facades and a busy fishing port, is complemented by wide bays and inlets - with calm, clear waters making it perfect to learn to windsurf or scuba dive. Centro beach running parallel to the promenade has a Villajoyosa sports area in addition to sun, sand, diving and sailing.

It has over three kilometers of beaches, including La Platja Centre (Central Beach), close to the city centre. The river Amadorio runs through La Vila.

The area is famous for its chocolate industry and tourism. One of the most popular tourist attractions is its Gothic Catholic church, with a Baroque altar piece. Another popular destination is the Royal Palm Casino (formerly Casino Costa Blanca).

The town is the venue for one of the best Villajoyosa fiestas in the region. The festival of the 'Moors and Christians' is an annual spectacle of colourful music, dance and costume, with fireworks and sumptuous food served to everyone. The markets around Villajoyosa are lively bustling places filled with local Villajoyosa gastronomy, and are well worth a visit, selling the best fresh fruit and many other food stuffs.
