Teulada and Moraira are two towns run by the same town hall.  Teulada sits a few kilometres inland from Moraira and is not as busy as many of the other small towns in the region.  It has plenty to offer in terms of shops and history and retains a certain small town charm.

Moraira – an upmarket coastal town that serves the discerning tourist and people choosing to live there.  You won’t find any high rise hotels or apartments here, just clean beaches, well kept streets and plenty of good shops and restaurants that offer reasonable prices.

Moraira is a pretty resort town that has developed over the years from a small sleepy fishing port to a quality tourist area.  In summer the beaches are fairly packed but you can still find a parking space and a spot that isn’t too close to everyone else.

Out of season the beaches are great to visit as there’s plenty of room for ball games and picnics.

There are two main beaches in Moraira:  l’Ampolla next to the castle and el Portet the far side of the port.  Both have gently shelving sandy beaches and are perfect for children.  L’Ampolla has a play area, toilets and lifeguards in summer and a beach bar that has an adjoining restaurant.  El Portet is long and thin and is backed by an array of places to eat and drink.

In the middle of the two beaches is the port that is still a thriving fishing port and also home to some high class yachts that sail the Mediterranean.

The restaurants in Moraira offer a variety of international cuisine: Spanish, English, German, French and Italian, so you’re sure to find something to tempt you.  There’s also a selection of local freshly caught fish at many restaurants.  And just because this is a stylish resort that doesn’t mean children aren’t welcome at the restaurants, most menus offer variations of main dishes for children.

On Friday mornings there’s an excellent market held in the main town car park.  Here you can buy traditional Spanish handicrafts, leather, jewellery and clothing.

The Moraira fiestas take place in July and are a chance to let your hair down and celebrate with the locals.  Streets are lit up and decorated and parades take place throughout the streets.  Fireworks are in abundance and the spectacular displays are not to be missed.
