Dentists
Going to the dentist in Spain is a straightforward procedure. There are many dentists available, both Spanish, English and of other nationalities.
Some Spanish dentists or their assistants do speak English and other European languages, and offer just as good a service as an English dentist. The practices are clean and hygienic and offer an efficient and caring service.
Dental treatment isn’t covered under the Spanish medical service (unless you need emergency treatment at a hospital after an accident). Everyone is expected to pay at the end of their treatment. If you are having something major done such as a crown or extraction you can usually pay by credit card, although the dentist may require a deposit before treatment commences.
If you go to a British dental practice you may find you pay a lot more than a Spanish dentist.
Some dentists offer a monthly payment plan, which may include check-ups, consultations, cleaning and some discounts on dental work.
There are also private dental policies available, but these can be very expensive, so it’s worth considering whether the condition of your teeth warrant this.
